Adolescent Indicators of a possible Gambling Problem at Home

o        Does the student seem to have large amounts of time without parental supervision?

o        Does the student frequently borrow money from peers for lunch, etc?

o        Does the student seem to dress poorly even though you know the family income is adequate?

o        Does the student avoid or seem not to have the funds for extracurricular activities even though the family income seems adequate?

o        Does the student have problems with alcohol, tobacco, or other illicit drugs?

o        Does the student seem unhappy or depressed much of the time?

o        Is the student experiencing poor school performance?

o        Does the student seem to have difficulty concentrating or staying on task?

o        Has the student dropped out of extracurricular activities?

o        Does the student seem more irritable, moody, or loses their temper more easily?

o        Does the student talk about or has attempted suicide?

o        Do the parents frequently miss school activities?

o        Does a parent seem overly intense and upset when things don’t go their way at an athletic event?

o        Are family vacations frequently planned to gambling centers? (e.g. Las Vegas, Deadwood, etc)

o        Does the student talk about their parents gambling?

o        Is the student himself involved in gambling?

o        Does the student talk about arguments at home that especially center around money and finances?

o        Does the student seem to be more knowledgeable about gambling than their peers?
